I discovered this snake shed online and boy, was I shocked at the striking color and extraordinary pattern. As I begin each piece, I research, study and conjure the feeling of the particular snake I’m working with. The places they inhabit, the food they eat, the shapes they make as they move about and the terrain in which they feel most comfortable shedding their skins. This snake shed is from a Gaboon Viper. One of the most stunning snake sheds in the world. The unique hourglass pattern and rich, brown colors never get old. I find it amazing that this is a pattern of a reptile and a pattern made by nature.
